Managing Results Presents at CPSE Annual Conference

MR CEO and Founder, Marv Weidner, and Michael Calderazzo, Fire Chief of Boulder, CO, presented “The Process of Continuous Improvement” at the Center for Public Safety Excellence annual conference in Orlando, FL March 16-20.  The Chief and Marv emphasized how Managing for Results and the new version of MFR Live, built especially for Fire Departments can build continuous improvement into the organization’s performance and facilitate the Self-Assessment required for Accreditation by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI).

Performance Budgeting Begins in Clackamas County, OR

Clackamas County will present their first MFR-propelled program structured, performance budget this spring for passage on July 1.  The Board of County Commissioners will see three significant departments present their budgets in the new format – Finance, Transportation and Development and Business and Community Services.  Two additional departments – Assessment and Taxation & Water and Environmental Services – are also developing their Strategic Business Plans.

County Manager Don Krupp and MFR Director Dan Chandler see a great deal of momentum for their MFR initiative – Performance Clackamas.  They anticipate that most of the remaining County departments will develop their Strategic Business Plans in FY 2015-2016 and develop performance budgets for FY 2016-2017.
 
Clackamas County began their MFR Initiative in April 2014 when Managing Results, LLC facilitated the Board of County Commissioners’ through the development of an outstanding, customer-focused Strategic Plan. County Departments are currently in the process of developing Strategic Business Plans and will manage both planning and performance information using the MFR Live performance dashboard and reporting system.

Customer Xperience Begins in Colorado

Managing Results, LLC in partnership with the Gunnison and Crested Butte Chambers of Commerce have initiated a ‘Customer Xperience’ program to help local businesses improve customer service.  Customer Service begins and ends with the owner.  The program is a two step process with an Owners’ Workshop focused on clarity of purpose and philosophy and secondly Business On-sites with intensive coaching and interventions.  Over the next several weeks, 6 workshops will be conducted with over 40 business owners. The Customer Xperience is underwritten by the Gunnison-Crested Butte Tourism Association.

MFR Connect 2015: Phoenix, AZ

Managing Results, LLC and Maricopa County, AZ will co-host the 2nd Annual MFR Connect Conference October 8-9 in Phoenix, AZ. The Conference will once again bring together individuals from customer jurisdictions and organizations with a focus on sharing and learning.

MFR Connect Brings Together Organizations Focused on Performance

Over the past several years, users of the Managing for Results (MFR) methodologies have asked Managing Results, LLC about the possibility of forming an MFR users group.  The purpose being to share success stories, strategies that have sustained the use of MFR over a number of years, best practices and explore ideas that have evolved within individual jurisdictions.

The Conference: This past June, Managing Results and the City of Oklahoma City co-hosted the first annual MFR Connect Conference in Oklahoma City, OK.  The Conference brought together representatives from 10 customer jurisdictions and organizations with a focus on sharing and learning.  The 2-day Conference included:

  • Presentations on Oklahoma City’s Leading for Results Initiative,
  • Success Stories from Park University, ADAMH Board of Franklin County, OH, Maricopa County, AZ and Austin, TX,
  • Roundtable Discussions focused on hot topics in Managing for Results

The Network: In addition to the opportunity to gather once a year at the Annual Conference, MFR Connect is also designed to be an ongoing network. The MFR Connect online forum was designed for this purpose and is an easy way to discuss, share, debate and troubleshoot topics that are top-of-mind in performance driven organizations.

Arvada Continues to FOCUS with Employee Performance Management

As Phase II in Arvada’s MFR initiative, FOCUS, five departments are moving forward this coming fiscal year to integrate and align employee performance with operational performance outlined in department Strategic Business Plans.  A Design Team of department heads led by City Manager, Mark Deven, and Human Resources Manager, Linda Haley, designed the new process of employee performance planning and evaluation.  Managing Results, LLC facilitated the process and will provide training and support during implementation.  Arvada is using MFR People as their on-line employee performance management system.  Arvada is a member of MFR Connect.

Clackamas County, OR Begins Managing for Results Initiative

Clackamas County, Oregon began their MFR Initiative April 2014 when Managing Results, LLC facilitated the Board of County Commissioners’ through the development of an outstanding, customer-focused Strategic Plan. In July, Don Krupp, County Administrator, and his senior MFR Design Team developed a multi-year MFR Implementation Plan for the MFR Initiative. Clackamas County Departments will begin developing Strategic Business Plans early this fall and up to 5 departments will submit budgets in the Budgeting for Results format for FY 2015-16.   Strategic Policy Administrator, Dan Chandler, will lead the effort. Clackamas County is a member of MFR Connect.
